Lockish, from Appish, is a $9.99 one-time Touch ID app locker for Mac. It puts a lock screen over a protected app’s window, re-locks after an idle timeout you set per app, and needs Touch ID to quit. There is no account and no subscription. For a simple lock it is a fair deal.

Three things make people look further:

1. **Your Mac password opens it.** Lockish says it plainly: use Touch ID, or your Mac password on Macs without it. Anyone who knows your login can open every locked app.

2. **It only locks windows.** Nothing is encrypted and nothing is hidden. The app and its data are untouched on disk. A locked window is a locked window.

3. **No folders or files.** Lockish can lock Finder windows, but it cannot lock a folder or a file itself, and failed-attempt logging is still on its roadmap.
