No. Cloak has no accounts and no sign-in. You set up your unlock method once, Touch ID or a password, and start locking things. Nothing is sent anywhere.
It is genuinely encrypted. Hidden apps and locked folders use AES-256, and the key is released when you unlock with Touch ID or your password. Without it, the contents are unreadable.
You get a recovery key when you set up Cloak. Keep it somewhere safe and you can always get back in. You can also add a password as a second way to unlock.
Your protected data stays on your Mac. There is no cloud sync and no telemetry, and your secret lives in the macOS keychain. The only network call Cloak makes is when you activate or recover your license, which sends your license key and a device identifier to our license server so we can enforce the per-license Mac limit. Locking, hiding, and encrypting all work fully offline.
Not if you turn off "Let my Mac password unlock Cloak" in Settings. Then only Touch ID or your Cloak password works anywhere in Cloak, and the Mac login password does nothing.
Yes. Pick any file and Cloak encrypts it and removes it from Finder. Unlock it and it is back where it was, unchanged.
If you turn on intruder photos in Settings, Cloak takes a photo with your Mac’s camera and saves it to Pictures › Cloak Intruders. It is off by default and only asks for camera access when you switch it on.
No. A hidden app simply disappears from Launchpad, Spotlight, and the Dock until you unlock it. When you bring it back, it opens and works exactly as before.
